Springtime Yin Workshop
Sunday, March 24th: 3-5pm: $30
Tacoma Studio
90minute of Yin Yoga with 30min of Breath work and Meditation
The yin yoga practice includes long held passive asanas, which applies stress to the deeper connective tissues. This practice stimulates our facial network, increasing range of motion and strength in our joints and ligaments.
The yin practice also stimulates the meridian lines where Qi (prana) flows through. In Daoist theory, Qi is held within our blood and organs. When there is stagnation or blockages to this flow of Qi, specific yin postures can be practiced to free up the flow of Qi again. This free flow of Qi (prana) is vital for health and longevity.
To celebrate the arrival of spring we will practice a sequence designed to support the liver/gallbladder meridian, which are the organs associated with spring in Daoist theory. This will help to stimulate the clearing of stagnation built up through winter, readying our vital energy and welcoming this season of change, movement, renewal, expansion and awakening.
Yin is a slow practice and it takes practice to slow down. It is an invitation to strengthen our inner voice. We will supplement the yin practice with a meditation and the practice of simple awareness - exploring access to two subtle and profound ways to move energy - awareness and breath.
