Yin yoga is a calmer, more meditative type of yoga that uses long-held, passive
stretching poses, typically while you’re seated or lying on your mat.
From a Western World perspective, people practice Yin for a variety of reasons
including:
- Relief for tight muscles
- Desire to reduce or eliminate pain in the body, including joints
- Improving the immunity system
- Reduction in anxiety and/or depression
- Increase quality of sleep
- Reduced likelihood of contracting illness and disease
- And more.
From an Eastern World point of view, Daoist Theory/Chinese Medicine, Yin stimulates
the meridian lines to eliminate blockages and/or stagnation of the flow of Qi aka Prana. Yin also can help to release tension in one’s connective tissue (fascia) resulting in improved physical and emotional well-being. The free flow of Qi/Prana is critical for one’s overall health both short and long term.
This workshop is presented by Di Inman, certified Yin instructor. Di has taught Yin at Expand Yoga, retreats, cancer recovery groups, workshops, and at health clubs. Her youngest student to date was 8 years old and the oldest, to date, is 90. Di believes that most people would benefit in ways beyond their imagination by practicing Yin regularly.
