Katonah Yoga®: Measures & Maps for Joy with Liz Houck

  • Sunday, October 29th from 2-4:30pm

  • @ Expand Yoga in Federal Way

  • $35 in advance, $50 day of workshop

Join us for a Katonah Yoga® style workshop designed to bring more joy and & insight to every aspect of your life.

This 2.5 hour unheated workshop will begin with a gentle warm up, and an introduction to a moon salute. We will practice for approximately one hour and use this time to introduce measures, fits and mapping techniques with joy as our ultimate goal. One of the recipes for joy is showing up at the right place at the right time - with the right information. So we will find our fits and use our forms to measure and map our way toward a practice that provides us with practical information to get us where we want to go.

The techniques introduced in this practice will allow you to receive more information in any practice and bring unconscious patterns to the surface so you can be more efficient and have more fun. Friends have compared it to feng shui or sacred geometry for the body.

During our second hour together, we will focus on the magic square, Lao Tzu's 3x3 number square. This mental map can be used to organize your system, to knit your conscious awareness, to notice where you go and where you don't. You can use it to sit or stand with better posture, to organize any shape, and even to weave your imagination through a dilemma.

We will have time for questions and then practice King of the Mountain together. There will also be treats for after if you have time to stay. Please bring a journal, pen, and your favorite mug. You will receive a map of the number square and learn techniques you can take with you wherever you go. This workshop will provide a foundation for further studies in the Katonah Yoga style.

KATONAH YOGA® was founded by Nevine Michaan, and is a Hatha yoga practice refined over forty years, blended with Taoist theory, geometry, pranayama, and meditation

Liz Houck is a certified Katonah Yoga® teacher, studying this style since 2012.
