  • Sunday, Nov 26th: 2-4:30pm l $35 in advance or $50 day of l Tacoma Location

Join us for a 2.5-hour restorative workshop where we'll explore the world of Katonah Yoga, blending theory with practical application to support us all in finding ease and insight.

Workshop Highlights:

Part I: Discovering the Theory of Katonah Yoga

Our journey begins with a short pranayama practice to center ourselves and lighten up for what lies ahead. We'll dive into the theoretical underpinnings of Katonah Yoga, first through the metaphor of a tree. We'll find our roots, extend our branches and bring the metaphor of a tree into our bodies in a clear, physically substantiated way.

Next, we'll revisit the magic square and introduce the metaphor of the house. (So much for mixing metaphors - but then again, you've got to know when to switch!) These concepts will help you navigate the unique spaces within your body in any situation.

Part II: The Art of Body Reading and Restorative Transformation

During the workshop, we'll invite someone to step forward for a live body reading. We'll help them find their center, circumference, and the spaces in between, positioning them for their best advantage. With this knowledge, we'll guide our volunteer into a restorative and transformative posture, designed to support their potential.

Part III: Asana Exploration

Finally, we'll guide the entire group through supported asanas, time permitting. These will likely include a backbend, forward bend, and / or a twist. These postures are not intended as physical exercises, and yet are more than restorative postures. They are intended to support the organic body and serve each participant in their unique journey.

What to Bring:

  • A journal

  • Pen

  • Your favorite mug (if you can stay for tea)

This workshop is a stepping stone for deeper exploration within Katonah Yoga and counts toward your Katonah Hours or YA Continuing Education Hours. Whether you're experienced or new to this practice, it's an opportunity to gain insight into your own unique patterns and support yourself in accessing your potential.
